Diljit Dosanjh’s latest Punjabi comedy-horror film Sardaar Ji 3 is off to a roaring start in Pakistan and overseas markets!

Despite facing a complete theatrical ban in India, Diljit Dosanjh’s latest Punjabi comedy-horror film Sardaar Ji 3 is off to a roaring start in Pakistan and overseas markets. The film, which stars Pakistani actor Hania Aamir alongside Dosanjh, became the subject of controversy in India amid heightened cross-border tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. As a result, it never saw the light of day in Indian cinemas. Refusing to alter the cast or delay the release, the film’s makers moved forward with an international launch on June 27, 2025.

The risk seems to have paid off, especially across the border, where Sardaar Ji 3 has received a thunderous response.
According to early box office numbers, the film earned approximately 500,000 (around 4.27 crore) on its opening day in Pakistan alone, setting a new record for the highest-ever first-day earnings for an Indian film in the country, overtaking Salman Khan’s Sultan. Global collections crossed 11 crore in just two days, with the second day pulling in over 6 crore, a significant jump from day one.
Furthermore, Diljit also shared multiple stories of fans’ reactions to the film.
In one of his Instagram stories, Diljit thanked viewers for their love, sharing a reel that highlighted 12 sold-out shows on ultra screens. “The largest in the country,” the clip read, nodding to the film’s broad appeal and massive footfall.
The film has also managed to secure its place among the top three best global openings for a Punjabi film, following Jatt & Juliet 3 and Carry On Jatta.
