Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has earned a nomination at the prestigious International Emmy Awards 2025 in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his acclaimed role in Imtiaz Ali’s biopic Amar Singh Chamkila. Diljit Dosanjh Nominated For Best Actor At The International Emmys For Amar Singh Chamkila
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced that Dikjit Dosanjh is nominated in the category of best actor for his performance as the late Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who was gruesomely gunned down in 1988 along with his singer-wife Amarjot, played by Parineeti Chopra. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film has been widely praised for capturing the stormy life and legacy of the infamous yet legendary musician.
In the International Emmys 2025 best actor category, Dosanjh will be up against David Mitchell for Ludwig (United Kingdom), Oriol Pla for Yo, Adicto (Spain), and Diego Vasquez for One Hundred Years of Solitude (Colombia). Amar Singh Chamkila will be competing for the TV Movie/Mini-Series award against Herrhausen: The Banker and the Bomb (Germany), Lost Boys & Fairies (United Kingdom), and Vencer o Morir (Chile).
The winners will be announced at the 53rd International Emmy Awards gala, scheduled to take place in New York City on November 24. This year’s awards cover 64 contenders in 16 categories and represent a record 26 nations.

India has had earlier success at the International Emmys too, with the Delhi Crime series on Netflix securing the Best Drama award in 2020, and stand-up comedian Vir Das winning Best Comedy in 2021. Dosanjh’s nomination is yet another significant milestone in India’s growing presence on the international stage.
