Punjabi pop star Diljit Dosanjh has become the talk of the town with his ever-expanding filmography and grand international music concerts. But with success, comes the struggles of dealing with some lows. Currently performing in Canada and the USA as a part of his Dil-Luminati Tour, Dosanjh is known for his grand sets, energetic performances and his constant effort to bring desi folklore to the world stage.
But here came a minor twist, when LA-based entrepreneur Rajat Batta, who also owns a few dance institutes, accused Dosanjh of not paying the bhangra groups, to perform his concerts. In an Instagram post, Batta mentioned that even though he’s proud of the singer, it is sad that the dancers performing for him are not paid. He further added–”Diljit, we are very happy for your success, but your dancers should have been paid and been a part of the production budget.”

While Diljit did not respond to these accusations, his Bhangra team reacted to the statement by Batta and said–”Each performance is a tribute to our virsa, preserving the pure folk bhangra traditions we hold dear. Sharing our art form on such a prestigious platform is an invaluable reward in itself.” The team of dancers also suggested Rajat Batta not take a stand on their behalf, with no background knowledge about the situation. While the team expressed their gratitude to him for showing his concern, they wish to not ruin the bond and relationship they share with Diljit Dosanjh, and it’s indeed an honour to perform for him.
Well, what’s your view on the same? For the unversed, Diljit Dosanjh recently received love and praise for his performance in Netflix’s Chamkila.
