The new season is set to launch on August 30 on JioHotstar, with a delayed TV broadcast on Colors nearly an hour and a half later. But it’s not just the digital-first strategy that’s causing a buzz, it’s the staggering sum Salman Khan is earning this year.
Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 19 Salary Revealed
According to a report by ET, industry insiders have shared that Salman is charging anywhere between 120 crore to 150 crore for hosting this season alone. That puts him among the highest-paid reality show hosts in India, and possibly even in the world. The figure works out to roughly 8–10 crore for each weekend, with the season expected to run for about 15 weekends.
To understand just how massive that amount is, let’s compare it with the salary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As per Economic Times, PM Modi takes home around 1.66 lakh each month, which adds up to a little over 19 lakh annually. His salary breakdown includes 50,000 in basic pay, 45,000 as a parliamentary allowance, 3,000 in expenses, and 2,000 daily allowance.
So essentially, Salman Khan is earning more for a single weekend of hosting Bigg Boss than what the Prime Minister makes in several years.
On the other hand, Bigg Boss 19 has been generating quite the buzz thanks to its contestant list. It was previously reported that only celebs would be taken as contestants but as per a new report by Indian Express, the contestant list will feature a mix of influencers and celebs.
Some of the big names include Ram Kapoor and Gautami Kapoor, Krishna Shroff, Raj Kundra, Munmun Dutta, Mr. Faisu, Gaurav Taneja, and Daisy Shah. With such a diverse mix, fans are in for an entertaining season.
