Kareena Kapoor Khan, known for her love for Punjabi food and fitness journey, has revealed a rather surprising fact about her diet: she’s been having almost the same dinner for 18 years. While many of us might assume her meals are fancy and constantly changing, the actress swears by the simplicity of home-cooked food especially khichdi with ghee. And the person behind this routine is none other than the famous Rujuta Diwekar.

Kareena Kapoor’s diet secret came straight from her long-time nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar, who has been guiding her since her prep days for the 2008 film Tashan, where her dramatic transformation into a size zero sparked national conversation. Diwekar, speaking in a recent interview, shared that despite the changing trends in diets and fads, Kareena’s meal plan has remained largely consistent.
According to Diwekar, Kareena starts her day with dry fruits like almonds or raisins, followed by a traditional Indian breakfast like poha or paratha. Lunch is typically dal-rice or roti-sabzi, depending on where she is, rice being easier to access on set. Her evening snack may include a mango milkshake or cheese toast. But her dinner is almost always a bowl of khichdi, topped with a spoon of ghee a routine she’s followed for nearly two decades.
Kareena herself admitted during the launch of Diwekar’s latest book Mitahara that her cook often complains about making the same food repeatedly. “I can have khichdi five times a week and be completely satisfied,” she said. Her evenings end early too dinner by 6:30 pm and lights out by 9:30 pm.

The actress laughed off extreme rumours about her diet, like surviving on quinoa and air. In a chat with Vicky Kaushal, she confessed to her love for Punjabi food and revealed she even had parathas during her size-zero phase. And this is not the first time that she has spoken about her love for food and how she cannot compromise on that.
