Archana Puran Singh has been the laughing face of Indian comedy shows for years. From Comedy Circus in the late 2000s to Kapil Sharma’s stage of today, her thundering laugh has become almost as well-known as the comedians she laughs at. Now, in a wacky turnabout, her laughter has discovered a use far beyond the television, inside of research laboratories in headphones.
Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt and Shark Tank India judge, let out an astonishing statement during the shoot of the newest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show. His company’s sound engineers, he revealed, use recordings of Archana’s laughter when putting their headphones’ noise-cancelling features through tests. Her laugh, which is very loud and piercing, seems to act as an ideal test for the technology. The comment instantly brought laughter from the crowd, and Archana just laughed as hard as she could.
The show, also featuring business people Ritesh Agarwal of OYO, Ghazal Alagh of Mamaearth, and Vijay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm on the stage, is the 10th this season. Having opened with Salman Khan this year, the Netflix-sponsored show already had big Bollywood stars and film promotions on its platform, all maintaining its momentum.
