But as the saying goes behind every successful man, there’s a woman, Tendulkar’s success had much to do with his wife Anjali’s support. Even though she hardly comes in front of the camera and gives interviews, the first-class medical student who topped her class, played a major role in giving India one of its finest cricketers ever.

Sachin Tendulkar and Anjali Tendulkar have been married for 30 years and remain the epitome of the perfect couple. Anjali Tendulkar came first in her medical school and was a potential good doctor. But she left everything and supported her kids- Arjun and Sara Tendulkar and home so her husband could make the nation proud. If it wasn’t for Anjali Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar wouldn’t have been able to focus on his career as much and he has admitted it time and time again.

She hardly ever came to watch him play as she had a designated seat of her own in her house. It was her way of injecting positivity into him and it worked for over 2 decades. She made an exception by visiting the Eden Gardens last week and will be back at the Wankhede. However, even after she arrived at Eden, she was determined to keep it a secret. Sachin Tendulkar would be concerned and want to make plans for her, not as a surprise. She was clear: he just needed to concentrate on the game.
Her brief stay at the Eden was exciting, to say the least. Just before tea, she told her companions that it would be great if the skipper gave Sachin an over. He did. She went on to say that if he could get a wicket, it would be almost like a fairytale. He did so during his fourth delivery.
