In an unexpected revelation, actor and director Justin Baldoni has admitted that pop icon Taylor Swift played a role in casting for the upcoming film adaptation of It Ends With Us. This surprising tidbit has sparked fresh discussions about Swift’s behind-the-scenes influence in Hollywood. During a recently resurfaced interview with Access Hollywood, Baldoni disclosed that he consulted both actress Blake Lively and Taylor Swift while casting the young Lily, ultimately played by Isabela Ferrer.
The film, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, features Lively in the lead role, with Ferrer portraying her character’s younger self. “I had actually brought in and showed her casting tape to Blake and Taylor, and they were both like, ‘Yes! Her,’” Baldoni shared, emphasizing Ferrer’s strong resemblance to Lively and her exceptional performance.
Isabella Ferrer, who attended the film’s premiere, later confirmed Swift’s unexpected involvement. In an interview with Extra, she expressed her surprise at learning that Swift had played a part in her selection. “I don’t even know if I’m supposed to be saying this, but I’m saying it!” Ferrer admitted excitedly. “Finding out that she had a hand in the process after I got the role? That absolutely blew my mind.”
Blake Lively, who shares a well-known friendship with Swift, also revealed that she sought the singer’s permission to feature My Tears Ricochet in the film’s soundtrack. In an interview with CBS Mornings, Lively mentioned how grateful the production team was for Swift’s generosity. “This was actually quite a small-budget movie… We never thought we could get one of her songs, but it just had to be in the film,” Lively explained, highlighting Swift’s enthusiasm and support.
However, Swift’s name has also surfaced in a brewing legal battle between Lively and Baldoni. In January, Baldoni filed a staggering $400 million lawsuit against Lively, accusing her of defamation over alleged misconduct claims on set. Court documents revealed that Swift and her partner, Ryan Reynolds, were mentioned in texts where Lively allegedly referred to them as her “dragons,” implying their involvement in ongoing disputes.
