The Bastar district administration, led by collector Haris S, has launched an investigation into the matter!

In a bizarre case of fraud, Chhattisgarh’s Mahatari Vandan Yojana an initiative aimed at empowering married women by providing a monthly sum of 1,000 has come under scrutiny after it was discovered that funds were being disbursed to an account under the name of Bollywood actress Sunny Leone. The scheme, launched by the ruling BJP government, has now become the centre of controversy in Bastar district.
What Happened?
The fraudulent account, which listed Sunny Leone as the beneficiary and Jonny Sins as her husband, was reportedly active for ten months, from March to December, receiving a total of 10,000. The application for the scheme was processed and approved at the Anganwadi level in the Talur sector of Bastar. Shockingly, the beneficiary details were marked as verified by officials responsible for validating the applications, raising serious questions about the oversight and integrity of the verification process.
The Bastar district administration, led by collector Haris S, has launched an investigation into the matter. The Women and Child Development Department has been tasked with conducting a thorough probe and taking corrective measures, including the seizure of the fraudulent bank account. Officials confirmed that the fraud came to light after media reports highlighted the discrepancy, prompting immediate action.

The individual behind this fraudulent act has been identified as Virendra Joshi. Authorities have stated that a case will be filed against him, and efforts are underway to recover the disbursed funds. Additionally, those responsible for approving the account without proper verification are being identified and could face disciplinary action.
