Exclusive: Dhvani Bhanushali Rejects Wrong PCOD Advice From Doctors, “Just Fix Your Lifestyle”

Dhvani opened up about dealing with severe PCOD symptoms when she was young.

Everyone remembered where they were and the first person they confided in after discovering their first menstrual cycle. In a recent conversation with The Male Feminist, hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan, singer Dhvani Bhanushali opens up about the time she got her first period and also when she was diagnosed with PCOD. Dhvani Bhanushali On Dealing With PCOD Symptoms

Dhvani Bhanushali revealed that she got her first period when she was very young. The first person she spoke to about it was her Chachi. The ‘Dilbar’ singer then revealed that she was diagnosed with PCOD when she was 13 years old.

She listed some symptoms of the disease, like suffering as hair thinning and acne. “You don’t know you (period), your hair will start thinning, I started to lose hair at 13,” revealed the actress. She also talked about how doctors would give her contraceptive pills to stabilise her hormones, but she feels that the side effects are not worth it. “It’s all wrong advice, you just need to just fix your lifestyle.”

Upon asking how she deals with days when things get particularly worse while being on her period, Dhvani replied by saying, “You just have to push through it.” She also talked about how mocking a woman when she is on her period is also a disrespectful and offensive thing to do. The singer revealed her favourite period comfort foods like homemade daal chawala and a specific type of ladoo that her mother eats.

Dhvani Bhanushali is a popular Indian singer known for her chart-topping songs like ‘Dilbar’, ‘Psycho Saiyaan’ and ‘Vaaste.’ Her song ‘Vaaste’ became a sensational hit in 2019, which crossed over 1 billion views, making her the youngest Indian pop singer to achieve this milestone.
