Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar franchise is running strong in the theatres. It’s breaking all box-office records. The second installment of the film also released on March 19. Ranveer Singh led Dhurandhar: The Revenge has earned praises, but it’s now facing legal issues from the Sikh community for allegedly hurting feelings. It comes after an AI picture featuring the lead actor surfaced on social media. Here’s what you need to know.
What Happened?
The President of the organisation ‘Sikhs in Maharashtra’, Sardar Gurjyot Singh filed a complaint with the Mulund Police Station in Mumbai regarding a poster in connection to the film. As per the complaint, the community raised concerns over a picture that showed Ranveer Singh dressed a sikh, wearing a turban, a kara and smoking cigarette. As per the legal notice, it disrespected the Sikh community by going against their religious beliefs. The community has demanded the removal of the picture in question, and a stop on its circulation. They have also demanded strict legal action against the director, producer and lead actor, and have asked to stop the screening of the film until the problem is resolved.
But Is There Any Such Poster?
It all began when the President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi State), Paramjit Singh Sarna took to his X handle to share and criticise a poster featuring Ranveer Singh’s character in a turban holding a cigarette. However, he was not aware that the poster was AI, made by a fan. In the post, he mentioned that the a poster from the ‘Pralay’ song shows a Sikh character (Ranveer Singh’s Jaskirat) holding a cigarette, and that it was offensive. As per a Firstpost report, a legal notice was also sent to the makers regarding the poster.
However, fans corrected him by pointing out that no such song exists in the film and also that the poster was a fan made one.

As of now, there are no official statements by anyone involved in the film.
