Dhurandhar: The Revenge is currently running in theatres and has already broken many box-office records. The Aditya Dhar-directed spy drama is also known for its music, which has received widespread praise from the audience. However, in the latest updates, the film has landed in some legal trouble for using an old song, ‘Tirchi Topiwala’. The production house has sued Aditya Dhar for the same. Read here for more.
Dhurandhar 2 In Legal Trouble
Many old songs have been revamped in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar franchise. And well, they are one of the film’s biggest strengths. However, the film has now found itself in a legal controversy for the use of the song ‘Tirchi Topiwala’. As per a Bar and Bench report, the Bollywood production house Trimurti Films has sued Aditya Dhar’s production company, B62 Studios, alleging unauthorised use of their song ‘Tirchi Topiwala’. The complainant has claimed that Aditya Dhar used a similar version of the song in his film without taking the necessary permission from the owners. The complainant has asked for a restraining further use of the song, and has sought the necessary compensation and damage claims.
For the unversed, ‘Tirchi Topiwala’ was co-composed by Kalyan Ji-Anand Ji, and the lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi. The song has been used in the new version of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. A part of it was mixed in the song titled ‘Rang De Lal‘, which is composed by Shashwat Sachdev.

For the unversed, Dhurandhar’s first part was released in December, 2025. It went on to become a huge hit at the box office. Akshaye Khanna was also a part of the film; however, his character died in the first part. Dhurandhar was later released on Netflix. The sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge released on March 19.
