Dhoom Dhaam Review: Yami Gautam, Pratik Gandhi’s Film Is Fun Only If The Expectations Are Low!
Pratik Gandhi and Yami Gautam starrer Dhoom Dhaam is directed by Rishabh Seth. Here's our review of the film.

The trailer of Dhoom Dhaam intrigued me because it promised a unique storyline about a mismatched couple’s wedding and their “nothing like before” first night. The Netflix film stars two talented actors Pratik Gandhi and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. Rishab Seth has directed and written the film and it is produced by Aditya Dhar, Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Deshpande. Dhoom Dhaam also stars Eijaz Khan, Mukul Chadda, and Anand Vikas Potdukhe in pivotal characters. Oh well, back to the point, as much as I found the trailer interesting, the film however did not match my level of expectations. The crooked and “kuch bhi chal raha hai” storyline made me not see through the performances of the main leads and I was just questioning the existence of the entire plot. Where was the fun and logic?
Plot!
Without spoiling the “fun” of this film, let me give you a brief about Dhoom Dhaam’s plot. Koyal (Yami Gautam) and Veer (Pratik Gandhi) rushed into an arranged marriage. The couple hardly knows each other and whatever their parents describe about them is not really the truth! Cut to their first night as the newlyweds. The uncomfortable couple tries to get familiar with each other since they hardly had time before their marriage, but that’s now how their first night is going to be. Eijaz Khan’s character randomly comes to their hotel room to ask for Charlie. A group of people start to chase Koyal and Veer thinking they know about Charlie, well, to save their lives, the couple also starts looking for Charlie! While all that is happening, Koyal and Veer also understand that whatever little they know about each other is all a lie and in reality, there are two opposite people committed in a marriage. Now will they stay together even after a whole night of chaos, action, back and forth with the police and an almost life-and-death situation? You need to watch the movie for that!
What Does Not Work?
Story
The plot of Dhoom Dhaam is as chaotic as Koyal and Veer’s first night but well, not in a good way. Firstly, we have no context about the characters’ past and why they are behaving the way they are behaving. The film tries to force the storyline on you without creating any kind of base for the plot whatsoever. The story as a whole does not make sense and if the film attempted to just talk about a mismatched couple forced into a marriage, and how to navigate through it, then this story was not an efficient way of showcasing it.
Hard To Believe
Dhoom Dhaam does many things to make the film politically right from a woman’s POV, and to make the story look fun and engaging but all this with zero impact. For example, why would a group of police officers and people who call themselves CIDs open fire in public places while chasing people they don’t want to harm? How can I relate to a character’s monologue on the question “Why do women lie?” when I know nothing about her past or traumas or where this rage is coming from based on the context of this particular film? Oh BTW, while she does that, she also belittles a claustrophobic man!
The film does not even focus on building the chemistry between Koyal and Veer properly because all your attention is automatically shifted to the logicless drama that’s happening in their lives. And it is not even fun! Therefore even the romance factor in the film is missing big time!
Performances
Pratik Gandhi as Veer is the naive, sober and do everything by the rulebook kind of boy, and he does play the character in all honesty. But well, we have seen better performances of the actor and therefore this looks underwhelming. Remember his character’s arc in Madgaon Express? He will remind you of the same but the fault in writing hugely hampers the performance.

Yami Gautam as Koyal is an outgoing and living on the edge woman who only reveals her real self on the first night of their marriage when they are in big trouble. Yami Gautam’s performance is decent but there is nothing extraordinary about the character or something that we have not seen before. Her range as an actor is very limited in this film.

Dhoom Dhaam by Rishabh Seth starring Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi is a rom-com that lacks romance and comedy. The little thrill that one gets is mainly through the car chasing and the cat-and-mouse chase between the cops and the newlyweds. Dhoom Dhaam’s story is the major drawback because of which the performances or even the impact of certain scenes fail to impress. It’s another forgettable rom-com cum action drama. But it’s just a 1 hour 40 minutes film so if you are looking for something new to watch, Dhoom Dhaam is currently streaming on Netflix.
