Devoleena Bhattacharjee Says Mother Is Stranded In Flood-Hit Assam, Appeals To CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

In recent events, TV actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee shared an emotional video on Instagram about how the devastating floods in Assam have affected her family. She spoke about her mother being stuck in the flood-hit Nazira, which has her feeling worried and helpless about her as the situation takes a turn for the worse. The actor also revealed why she had not spoken about the floods till now and admitted that she knew she would not be able to control her emotions.

Taking to her Instagram st0ries, Devoleena Bhatacharjee shared videos of her breaking down and apologising for not speaking about the Assam floods. She spoke about how she knew she would break down as soon as she would talk about it and stated that the flood-affected regions Sivasagar and Nazira is where grew up and did her school and college from. She further spoke about her family and said that her mother was still stuck in Nazira and mentioned that by God’s grace their old house is not completely flooded yet. However, Devoleena stated that her grandmother and aunt’s houses have been completely affected by the floods and that there was nothing left.

For the unversed, in this difficult situation, the Assam government has released the first round of interim relief of about Rs 75,000 per household for the flood-affected families as per reports. This comes after the death toll in Upper Assam increased to 85 after three more deaths were discovered from Sivasagar. On the other hand, multiple people have been affected by the situation and Sivasagar continue to be one of the worst-affected areas in the current wave of flooding. CM Sarma will be visiting parts of Sivasagar to watch over the relief and rehabilitation eddies and interact with the affected population.
