The iconic film that made the audience fall in love with Anne Hathway as Andrea Sachs, made them love and hate Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, and feel sorry for Emily Blunt as Emila Charlton is The Devil Wears Prada. This David Frankel directorial gave us a film to remember. Eighteen years after its release, The Devil Wears Prada is all set to have a sequel with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt returning.

The Devil Wears Prada Sequel Is In The Making

The rumours about this sequel arose particularly after the actor-on-actor conversation between Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway and the cast reunion at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Now, according to a report by Puck, a sequel is indeed in the works. Meryl Streep would be returning as the iconic Miranda Priestly.

Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the first film, is in talks to write the sequel’s script. According to reports, the plot would centre on Miranda Priestly, the editor of the prestigious fashion magazine Runaway, as she battles the fall of traditional print advertising. She then squares up against Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton, a former assistant who is currently a senior executive at a luxury business. Miranda needs the money from advertising, but would Emily give it to her again after their awful working relationship?

Going by this plot, Meryl and Emily will probably reprise their roles in the follow-up. There is no information available, though, on Anne Hathaway’s involvement as Andrea Sachs, Miranda’s other former assistant who left her after the previous movie.

More On The Devil Wears Prada

The film focused on Lauren Weisberger’s book of the same name and is about a young woman’s horrific experience working at a fashion magazine, which served as the inspiration for The Devil Wears Prada. Based on Lauren’s firsthand account, Miranda Priestly appeared to be modelled after Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue. In addition to grossing $326.7 million globally, the movie nominated Meryl for an Oscar and won her a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy. Patricia Field, who designed the costumes, was also nominated for an Academy Award.
