Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, best known for casting viral sensation Monalisa in his upcoming project, has been arrested in connection with a rape case. The director, who was on the run, was taken into custody by Delhi Police on March 30, 2024, after his bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court.
Sanoj Mishra, 45, was tracked down using technical surveillance and intelligence gathering. He was arrested in Ghaziabad and later transferred to the Nabi Karim Police Station. The director, who primarily resides in Mumbai with his family, had been under investigation for serious charges, including rape, assault, and coercion.
Allegations Against Sanoj Mishra
The case was filed by a 28-year-old woman from a small town who had aspirations of becoming a film actress. In her complaint, she alleged that Mishra lured her into a relationship with promises of marriage and career opportunities in the film industry. Over a span of four years, she claimed that he repeatedly raped her while they lived together in Mumbai. One of the most disturbing aspects of the complaint is the allegation that Mishra forced her to undergo three abortionsagainst her will. The woman stated that despite his repeated assurances of marriage, he ultimately abandoned her. Medical records from Muzaffarnagar were collected as evidence to support her claims.
The alleged crime that led to the complaint took place on February 18, 2025. According to the FIR filed on March 6, 2024, Mishra took the victim to Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim, where he reportedly had physical relations with her before abruptly leaving her behind. Feeling betrayed and traumatized, she approached the police, leading to the registration of a case under multiple sections, including rape and causing miscarriage. Following her complaint, the woman also provided a statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), further strengthening the case against him.
