According to Bollywood Hungama, Sai Pallavi will be joining Prabhas in the second part of Kalki. A member of the film told the portal, “Deepika wanted almost 35 per cent more for the sequel than what she received for the first film. It became difficult to align on terms. She eventually exited, and now Sai Pallavi has stepped in.” In September 2025, the makers of the film took to their X (Formerly Twitter) handle and announced Padukone’s exit from their film.
They stated that she was no longer part of the project since a film like Kalki deserved more commitment. Some reports later revealed that Kalki 2 makers decided to drop Deepika because she was demanding a 25 per cent hike in her fee with an 8-hour work shift. The makers tried negotiating these two requests of the actress, but she did not agree. After this, the actress spoke to CNBC-TV18 and addressed the ongoing debate around working conditions and pay parity in Bollywood.

She said, ” have done this at many levels; this is not new to me. I think, even as far as pay is concerned, I have had to deal with whatever comes with it. I don’t even know what to call it, but I am someone who has always fought my battles silently.” Padukone said that she would fight her battles silently.
