Lewis Spears, a stand-up comedian, found his social media feed filled with videos of Kwon Eunbi from the Waterbomb festival. In response, he wrote, “Kpop star with huge natural rack is haunting my feed, I can’t escape.” Not just this, but later he dropped his photo in the thread and wrote, “Kwon, if you’re reading this, I am 6’8.” Fans found his comment inappropriate and criticised him in the comment section.
The fans expressed their frustration at the inappropriate and objectifying remark. Fans strongly condemned his statement and also raised concerns about men’s disrespectful behaviour towards female idols.
However, the stand-up comedian seemed unbothered by the criticism. He responded to the fans’ backlash by writing, “K-pop stans will upscale a video of an idol dancing, zoom in on her body, stabilise it on her chest, put it in slow motion, and then call me the creep.” His behaviour intensified the situation as the comedian tried to shift the responsibility towards fans. So, the fans re-shared his old tweet and wrote, “Nah, you seem like a creep all on your own.”
