Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor’s old comments often come up with people criticising him for what he said about a decade ago. And recently, an old video of him saying that he ate beef is making the circles on social media. An X (Previously Twitter) user is slamming Ramayana makers for casting him as Lord Ram in the film. Amid this, singer Chinmayi has lent her support to the actor.

Chinmayi Sripaada Defends Ranbir Kapoor

Sharing a picture of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram in the upcoming film Ramayana with Sai Pallavi posing as Sita, the user wrote, “Beef Eater will be playing the role of Bhagavan Ram now! What’s wrong with Bollywood?” Now reacting to this, singer Chinmayi Sripaada wrote, “A babaji who uses the name of God can be a rapist and he can keep getting parole to get votes in bhakt India – however what someone eats is a big problem.”

Another person questioned how one wrongdoing could justify another. In response, she compared the criticism of an actor playing a role to the acceptance of a convicted rapist campaigning for votes, suggesting that such double standards reflect the public’s tolerance for real-life offenders in positions of power. Many in the comment section criticised the singer for taking Kapoor’s side on the matter.

More On The Controversy

In 2011 while promoting his film Rockstar, Ranbir Kapoor said in an interview that he loved eating beef. He revealed how his family ate a lot of Peshawari food as they came from that region. He said that he was a big beef, paya, and mutton fan.

Fans will watch Ranbir as Lord Ram in Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The film also features Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film will be released in two parts: 2026 and 2027.
