Chhorii 2 Review: The Sequel Curse Strikes Again, Nushrratt Bharuccha’s Horror Film Fails To Haunt Like The Original!
hauterrfly Rating: 2.5 / 5

Okay, so you know how sometimes the first part of a film is just amazing, and you’re super excited for the second one? But then, the second one just doesn’t quite hit the same spot? That’s kind of how I felt after watching Chhorii 2 starring Nushrratt Bharuccha and Soha Ali Khan in lead roles. To know more about it, read our detailed review below!

Plot

Seven years have passed, but Sakshi’s still living with a bit of fear. Now she has a sweet little seven-year-old daughter named Ishani. But one scary night, a spooky figure takes Ishani away! And Sakshi’s worst nightmare is happening all over again. To save her daughter, she has to go into this creepy world of secret stuff and dangerous people to get her daughter back. There she meets a group of a lot of evil people, men who think lowly about women and a Daasi.

Who is this Daasi lady? She’s part of a cult, and they want to sacrifice Ishani to an evil monster. Chhorii 2 is all about Sakshi trying to save Ishani before it gets too late. She faces extreme hurdles and dangerous death-like situations along the way. Will Sakshi be able to save her daughter? Will Ishani return safely to her mom’s arms? I’m not the one to spoil it!

Performances

Nushrratt Bharuccha, who played Sakshi before, is still really good in this movie. You can really see how strong she is as a mom, but also how scared she is inside. You totally believe that she would do anything for her daughter.

Soha Ali Khan plays the role of Daasi, and she definitely looks the part. She looks really creepy, but it didn’t leave a major or stronger impact.

Hardika Sharma, as Ishani, delivered a nice performance with the given material.

Gashmeer Mahajani enters in the part as the cop helping Sakshi. He does have his moments, but not impressive enough.

Also, you know how in horror films, the music can make things even more frightening? Well, in Chhorii 2, the music in the background is just okay. It does its job, but it doesn’t really make you feel that extra shiver down your spine.

Verdict: Nushrratt Bharuccha Impresses But The Story Plays It Too Safe For Horror

Chhorii 2 definitely goes into a darker story, and you really feel how much danger Sakshi is in. The film also talks about some important things, which is good. The first part was great because it made you think and also kept you on the edge of your seat. But this second one, even though the actors are still good, it just doesn’t have that same exciting and scary feeling.

Director Vishal Furia does a decent job of keeping you interested, even when the story feels a bit weak at times. The way the film looks is good. I also think Chhorii 2 could have been shorter. There were parts in the middle that just felt like they were dragging on. And the ending, well, it was just okay.  You’d think with an interesting part 1, there would be some really good jump scares in the 2nd part as well. But it does not; it hardly has any scares.

Well, it is not an awful film. The actors do a good job, and it tries to say something important. And it’s watchable as well. But it just doesn’t have that same exciting and scary feeling that the first film had. It’s a darker part of Sakshi’s story, but not one that will keep you up at night. It is directed by Vishal Furia and is available on Prime Video.
