Was Charli XCX’s SNL Cameo A Message To Taylor Swift? The Internet Thinks So

Popular singer Charli XCX surprised everyone with a surprise performance at the recent Saturday Night Live episode. She made an appearance as a musical guest during Role Model’s performance. She appeared on stage to play ‘Sally’ in the song ‘Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,’ a role that Role Model takes on with a different celebrity guest at each of his live shows. The highlight of her cameo was not her performance, but her clothing, which fueled rumours that she was making a dig at Taylor Swift.

About Charli XCX, Taylor Swift

Famous star Charli XCX’s recent appearance on Saturday Night Live shocked her fans. During the chorus of Role Model’s song ‘Sally, When The Wine Runs Out,’ he called out, “Where’s my Sally tonight?” prompting her to come out! But her cameo also fueled an alleged rivalry with Taylor Swift, as Charli came to the stage in a ‘Max’s Kansas City’ t-shirt. For the uninitiated, the shirt is associated with Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Many speculated that her t-shirt was a subtle response to the lyrics on Taylor’s new album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl.’

Fans were divided on whether Charlie XCX was mocking Taylor Swift. The ‘Apple’ singer made a guest appearance during Role Model’s performance, wearing the same Max’s Kansas City t-shirt featured in the episode’s advertising photographs. In 2024, Role Model released the album “Kansas Anymore”. Furthermore, Max’s Kansas City is the name of a famed New York City nightclub that Charli credits as an inspiration. Given these facts, the t-shirt theory appears to be a reach.
