The union elaborated on the privacy breach that spread the ASTRO member’s tax information to the public. Additionally, it said this could damage the reputation of the persons involved. Citing the case of the late Korean actor Lee Sun Kyun, the Taxpayers’ Union added that their complaint did not imply to justify any particular person (here, Cha Eun Woo), but to ensure that “tax information is always securely protected.” Similarly, it affirmed its focus on stopping the widespread circulation of unproven allegations.

Attorney Lee Kyung Hwan registered the complaint on behalf of the organisation. He said that the law should be equal for all, and though he’s famous, Cha Eun Woo’s private information shouldn’t have been leaked. Correspondingly, the Taxpayers’ Union chairman, Kim Sun Taek, spoke of the vulnerability of tax information. He asserted the gravity of “careless” handling of this personal data.
