From Janhvi Kapoor To John Abraham, Celebs React To SC’s Rule On Stray Dogs In Delhi

There is a lot of outrage against the recent Supreme Court ruling on stray dogs in Delhi. The SC has strictly ordered the removal of stray dogs from the streets and their shifting to shelter homes, and has also given the authorities 8 weeks to complete the process. Many animal activists protested against this ruling in Delhi, and many were detained by the police too. Now, some celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor and Vir Das, among others, have raised their voice against this judgement too. Read on for more.

The Param Sundari actor Janhvi Kapoor also posted a long note on the Supreme Court ruling. In this note, the actor described the little puppies as night guards for shopkeepers, friends to school-going kids, warmth in a new city, and reminded us that they are not just “stray dogs”. She supported vaccination drives, adoption campaigns, and sterilisation for the dogs instead of imprisonment. Janhvi Kapoor also urged everyone to voice their opinion for the voiceless.

John Abraham

Actor John Abraham has requested the Chief Justice Of India Justice B. R Gavai to review the Supreme Court ruling on stray dogs. The star has called the move to put them in shelter homes as ‘impractical and inhumane’. The actor pointed out certain sections of animal rights that this judgement conflicts with, and has requested for the vaccination and sterilisation approach, as per a Hindustan Times report. Furthermore, he explained how removing them from streets to shelter homes would be an impractical move.

Vir Das

Comedian and actor Vir Das urged citizens of Delhi to adopt the stray dogs. In his note, Vir Das called these dogs as low-maintainence, loving, and asked people to do their bit. He also urged everyone to support NGO’s during this time.

As per news reports, director Siddharth Anand also spoke up against the Supreme Court stray dogs ruling. He called the ruling as ‘death warrant’ and urged someone to start a petition against it.
