At the age of 37, the actor took to his Instagram and revealed this news. While many fans were in denial about him leaving, many gave him blessings for the new chapter of his life. Similarly, from his recent co-stars Medha Shankr to Dia Mirza, these Bollywood celebs also had mixed reactions to his retirement.

On December 2, the 12th Fail actor announced his departure from the film industry. His post said, “Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. The last 2 movies and many years of memories.Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Both fans and celebs were shocked at this. Guilty star Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor commented, “What????? Sonu!! No, you are one of the very few real actors we have left!!!!!!” She was as shocked as us at the actor retiring. Raashii Khanna commented, “What? No!” His 12th Fail co-actor Medha Shankr commented, “???? What?”
Supporting Vikrant Massey’s decision, actor Dia Mirza wrote, “Breaks are best ❤️ you’ll be even more amazing on the other side.” Many fans replied to this comment supporting his decision to take a break too and were understanding about the actor retiring.
