Cardi B’s unexpected piece of jewellery was made by Juliane Marie Corona of Mommy Made Encapsulations, a company that specialises in preserving birth mementoes. In the now-viral Instagram reel, posted on November 20, an umbilical cord is shown to be shaped, dried, and sealed before receiving a layer of gold that turns it into a heart-shaped pendant.
Corona shared the transformation online and referred to it as “an honour.” She explained that the umbilical cord represents the first connection between a mother and her child. She wrote that to take something so meaningful and turn it into a permanent keepsake is “one of the most special parts” of her job.
But the cord pendant isn’t the only thing Cardi B decided to preserve. The creator also revealed that the rapper received a placenta print, and a portion of her placenta was turned into capsules, a growing wellness trend among new moms.
Cardi reflected on this chapter of her life in a recent post, saying, “I brought new music and a new album to the world. A new baby in my world – and one more reason to be the best version of me.” She confirmed the birth of her baby boy earlier this month with a soft-launch Instagram post, captioned simply “11/4” with a photo of her and Diggs holding their newborn.
