Cardi B’s courtroom drama continued to take a surprising turn this week when her testimony in court went viral on the internet, not for the case, but because of the bizarre questions asked of her while she was on the witness stand. The rapper, whose birth name is Belcalis Almanzar, testified in court on Tuesday, where she was forced to deny assault and battery charges that stem from an alleged 2018 incident.

The incident concerns a female ex-security guard at a Beverly Hills obstetrics and gynaecology clinic. Ellis claimed that Cardi B assaulted her at the clinic when the rapper was hiding a pregnancy with her first child. Ellis testified earlier, but the spotlight soon turned when footage of Cardi B being asked questions went viral on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter).

The viral moment occurred when Ellis’s attorney, Ron Rosen, went off script and started questioning Cardi B about her hair. Pointing to pictures taken in 2018 of her with long blonde locks but then subsequently posted showing her with a short black bob, Rosen directly asked her which one was her “real hair.” Cardi B rolled her eyes, laughed, and explained that neither one was real; they were both wigs.
Her reply gained traction on social media instantly, and one of her videos, put up by journalist Meghann Cuniff, reached 11 million views. Cardi B’s fans appreciated her hilarious and unfazed response to the weird line of questioning.

The attorney did not rest there. He also requested the rapper to show her nails and inquired about their length, even requesting a guess in inches. Cardi B attested that they were fake and described their shape. Later on, Rosen attempted to ask about gang affiliations but was objected to by her lawyers and dismissed by the judge.

Reports from Complex indicate that Judge Ian Fusselman became frustrated as Rosen again and again digressed from pertinent points, speaking instead about wigs and manicures.
