This year at the Cannes Film Festival, India has been able to leave a greater impact with some applaudable work. Directed by Bulgarian filmmaker Constantin Bojanov, it was shot over a month and a half in India and Nepal. This is a great feat for us since Anasuya became the first Indian actress to win the prestigious title. Another massive achievement for Indians was when All We Imagine As Light became the first Indian movie in 30 years to qualify for the festival’s competition section. Moreover, the film was recently premiered at the film festival, where it received an eight-minute standing ovation.

Directed by Payal Kapadia, the film’s cast also paraded on the red carpet in a unique manner. Representing India in colourful Indian outfits, the entire cast danced instead of simply posing on the red carpet and caught the media’s attention. Actresses Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha made interesting sartorial choices with statement accessory pieces and silk, brocade attires. The film by Kapadia also features Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon in pivotal roles.
