Campus Beats Creator Palki Malhotra Shares Thoughts On K-Drama’s Popularity

There has been a lot of chatter about why so many people are into K-dramas nowadays. Many say these stories fill a gap that Indian shows aren’t filling. Fans love the romance and emotions K-dramas bring. Joining this discussion was Palki Malhotra, the creator of Campus Beats. She shared her thoughts on why K-dramas became such a hit. Read on!

Palki Malhotra On K-Dramas

According to India Today, Palki Malhotra believes K-dramas won hearts because people craved sweet, romantic stories during Covid. These shows offered love and hope when people were going through tough times. Indian TV and OTT platforms lacked similar rom-coms or heartfelt romances. So, fans turned to K-dramas. Their simple yet emotional storytelling hooked viewers. This sparked a craze that kept growing.

Further, she shared her experience watching K-dramas. The director noticed that K-dramas weren’t too different from Indian stories. The main difference? K-dramas had bigger budgets. But she thinks their success in India happened because there were no local shows in the same style. Indian audiences wanted something fresh, and K-dramas delivered.

Palki Malhotra also pointed out issues with Hindi television. She called it a cautious industry. Many platforms rely on sponsors and ads. Money is tight, so producers play it safe. They stick to familiar formats to avoid risks. This limits creativity. Paki Malhotra understands the fear but feels there’s room for change. She believes one bold, experimental show could make a difference.

Lastly, the director added that even today, people still want classic love stories. Times have changed, but the search for true love remains strong. Well, K-dramas or anything K are in rage right now. From music to films, they have found a place in everyone’s hearts.
