Airport mobbing has become a serious and dangerous problem in the K-pop industry. Fans crowd airports just to catch a glimpse of their favourite idols and also bring cameras to click photos. As sweet as it may seem, sometimes it turns out to be overwhelming and unsafe. To address this, BTS fans, aka ARMYs, created the Purple Ribbon Project, a thoughtful initiative to protect BTS and maintain peace at the airport. The ‘Slow Dancing’ singer came live on Weverse and talked a lot with fans. That’s where he also talked about the Purple Ribbon project. He stated how massive crowds make it tough for him to stop for photos or talk to reporters. Then he recalled ARMYs’ thoughtful initiative, which is the Purple Ribbon Project, and asked fans to do it again, as it will help to maintain a respectful space where artists feel secure and fans can still show their love. The ‘Slow Dancing’ singer urged for a safe and calm environment for everyone since it’s a public space.

For those of you who don’t know, it was a fan-driven project and was introduced to manage crowded airport scenes. Fans would hold purple ribbons and make a human chain, which helped all the BTS members to move through airports safely. The project holds a special place in the hearts of both BTS and ARMYs.

And after Kim Taehyung’s live, the fans are planning ways to bring the project back. Across all social media platforms, ARMYs are discussing organising it. However, they are also asking fans to stay at home and not create chaos at the airport scene. Correct!
