BTS RM Slammed For Tagging Controversial Producer Diplo In His Instagram Story
Fans do not want BTS to be associated with him.

BTS’ Leader RM recently found himself in hot water after he posted an Instagram story. The K-pop idol posted a picture with a labubu and tagged American DJ and music producer Diplo in his story. The backlash comes just days after BTS RM faced criticism for posting about a trip to Disneyland during the ongoing boycott against the company. Read on to know more.
Why Is BTS RM Facing Backlash
BTS’ RM posted a lighthearted picture of a labubu, the internet’s latest obsession and tagged Diplo in it. While at first glance harmless, fans and netizens quickly reacted with disappointment to the idol’s post. People started to bring out Diplo’s problematic past, which included serious allegations of misconduct.
The reason why fans are particularly disappointed with BTS RM is because of the K-pop idol’s reputation and global influence. The singer is known to be a thoughtful and socially aware artist; hence, fans expressed frustration at the perceived lack of awareness in tagging someone with such a controversial reputation. Fans have been taking to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their concerns. Comments ranged from disappointment to outright anger, with several users stating they “don’t want BTS associated with people like Diplo.”
This isn’t the first time RM and Diplo have been linked. The two have previously interacted in the music industry, most notably when BTS collaborated with Diplo’s group Major Lazer for a music festival. Diplo has also attended several BTS events. Some ARMYs, however, came to RM’s defence, suggesting that the two may just be colleagues. They argued that celebrities often interact casually without endorsing each other’s personal lives.
