Explainer: Why BTS Jin Still Has To Undergo Military Training After Discharge

All seven members of BTS recently completed their mandatory military enlistment and were discharged from the army. However, this is not the end of their training. BTS Jin recently shared some details about his personal life with fans on Weverse, revealing that he still has to undergo training for a period of time each year. The K-pop idol was talking about reserve forces training that is mandatory for all male citizens of South Korea to participate in post military service. Read on to know more.

What Is Reserve Forces Training That BTS Jin Talked About

On December 1st, BTS Jin came online on Weverse, a fan platform to interact with ARMYs. He talked about his recent tour and how it had already been a month since its last show. The idol then revealed details about his personal life, saying that he usually rests these days and recently attended the reserve forces training.

Following BTS Jin’s update, many were curious to know what reserve forces training meant since the idol had already finished his mandatory military enlistment in June 2024. According to a South Korean media outlet, reserve forces training is a military program mandatory for all discharged military personnel to join one year after their discharge.

The men are expected to participate in this program for eight years following their discharge. It starts as a three or four-day event, then to a one-day or an online program. This means that BTS Jin will complete his program in 2032, and he was discharged in 2024.

The rest of the BTS members will also have to participate in the reserve training forces. This means each year there will be a time period where the boys will be occupied with training amid their ongoing projects, like music and more.
