BTS’ Gwanghwamun Square Concert: Schools Receive Safety Notice For Parents And Guardians

The Seoul Metropolitan Police has released statements on how it will take strict measures to ensure no untoward incidents occur during the concert. Extra security personnel, metal detectors, and more measures will be implemented at the square and the nearby area. In addition to this, newsletters advising parents to give children special instructions due to expected crowds have been circulated.

One such notice has gone viral on Korean media sites. Its title explains that it is a “request” to prevent accidents involving crowds during huge events, including the “BTS Comeback Events.” The guidelines instructed one to avoid forcing one’s way into spaces with hordes of people. Secondly, they added that one must review the entries and emergency exits before settling in to watch them. Thirdly, moving gradually and with gaps from the person ahead was paramount. Fourth, if one gets jostled by the crowd, one must extend one’s arms to allow space for breathing. Lastly, in case all people start rushing in a particular direction, one must make their way to a wall or similar space.

Fans React To School Notice Ahead Of BTS’ Comeback Show

Korean netizens and ARMY were shocked at the prospect of the city going as far as sending newsletters to ask parents to ensure the safety of their kids. Some said that it showed the scale of the upcoming concert, while others remarked that the scale was really different for “world-class” performers.

Considering the huge crowd crush that claimed several lives in Seoul’s Itaewon in 2022, one can see why the city is being extra careful.
