Here’s Why BTS Fans Are Upset With Bruno Mars’ Recent Comment About BLACKPINK Rosé And PSY

BLACKPINK Rosé’s song ‘APT’ featuring Bruno Mars was undoubtedly one of the biggest songs of 2025. It won Song Of The Summer at the 2025 Video Music Awards this year, is nominated at the Grammys and has also surpassed over 2 billion views on YouTube. Bruno Mars recently spoke about ‘APT’ and Rosé in an interview with Billboard. Some of the singer’s remarks have however been receiving backlash from BTS fans. Read on to know more.

Bruno Mars’ Comment Ignites Negative Reactions From BTS Fans

In the interview, Bruno Mars talked about how the success of BLACKPINK Rosé’s ‘APT’ was something he had “never seen before”. He compared the record-breaking track to PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style,’ which triggered a global cultural wave.

However, one comment that Mars said was not received well by some. Bruno Mars told Billboard, “No one says it, but I feel like Rosie is the first time we’ve seen this. The last time we’ve seen something to this effect was ‘Gangnam Style.” He went on to say how, despite being a song in all Korean, it became such a big phenomenon. He also mentioned Rosé saying, With ‘APT.,’ I’ve never seen this before… Rosie is this Korean girl who introduced this thing to people who don’t know about it, including myself.”

BLACKPINK Rosé’s fans applauded Bruno Mars for always supporting and acknowledging the singer’s achievements and talent. “How can you NOT adore this man?? He’s such a real one! a mentor, a collaborator, and someone who actually gives credit where it’s due,” wrote one fan.

However, Bruno’s comments attracted negative reactions from BTS fans who think that Bruno discredited the group’s legacy. They pointed out how significant BTS’ contribution to K-pop is, and it is because of the group that so many more Korean groups have been able to promote in the West. Hence, not mentioning the group in this conversation seemed rude.
