Fans worldwide are excitedly counting down the days as BTS’s comeback approaches. For this long-awaited return, many preparations are underway. Many Korean netizens have voiced strong displeasure about the huge scale of the comeback and the disruptions it may cause. Read on to know more!
Here’s Why BTS’ Highly Anticipated Comeback Is Drawing Criticism From Korean Netizens
BTS will drop their new album called Arirang on March 20, 2026. The very next day, March 21, they plan a big free outdoor concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. This event, named “BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG”, will be their first full-group show in Korea after a long time. It is expected to bring together as many as 260,000 fans from Korea and other countries. The concert will include new songs from the album and people everywhere can watch it live on Netflix.
Because so many fans are coming, the city has made strict rules for safety. Gyeongbokgung Palace and some nearby museums and theatres will stay closed all day. Buses and trains in that area will have limits on service. As per News1, a big company, KT, has its new office building right across from the square. This spot gives a perfect view of the stage, so huge crowds may gather there. To avoid any danger, KT decided to shut the whole building on March 21. No workers can go inside, and all the shops, cafes, bakeries, and restaurants on the lower floors must close too. The company said the large number of people could create serious problems, such as overcrowding and potential health risks, so closing everything was the safest choice.

Many fans feel excited and happy about this special event. But some people in Korea are not pleased. They think the concert is huge and causes too much trouble. On social media, they called it a “nuisance” that affects common people and hurts small businesses. Some asked why BTS did not pick a normal stadium instead of a public square. Others said it feels like a huge national celebration rather than just a music show.
