BTS made a highly anticipated comeback with their fifth album, Arirang, and it quickly gained millions of streams and views around the world. The album features 14 tracks that fans instantly loved and many have started covering the dance moves and creating their own versions online. The songs also performed strongly on music charts. Now, BTS has set another impressive record with this release. Read on!
BTS has made history once again. Their new album Arirang is the first album by any Asian group to stay at number one on the Billboard 200 chart for two weeks in a row. This is a proud moment for the group after their mandatory military service. The album brought immense excitement back to their fans, known as ARMY, and showed that BTS still has a major influence and following.
The group released Arirang in March 2026. It was their first full group album in years. In the first week, it earned 641,000 equivalent units in the United States. 532,000 of these came from actual album sales. This was the biggest sales week for any group album in more than ten years. It was also the strongest album debut of 2026 so far. The album beat new releases from other popular artists like Ye and others.
In the second week, sales went down. Still, Arirang managed to collect 187,000 units. That was enough to keep it at the number one spot. None of BTS’s earlier number one albums had stayed at the top for more than one week. This makes Arirang their longest-running number one album on the Billboard 200.
Earlier, the title track, Swim, also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It became their seventh song to hit that top position. It was also their first number one song on this chart since 2021, before the group took a short break. Lucky seven!

The whole album did amazingly well on other charts too. On the Billboard Global 200 chart, BTS songs took the top nine spots at the same time. They also became the first group to hold all top ten positions on the Global Excl. U.S. chart. This achievement matched a record earlier set by Taylor Swift for the most top ten songs in one week.
