Fans, also known as ARMY, have been thrilled since the name of the album was revealed. They searched everywhere to understand its theme and this time their theories turned out right. Some noticed old stories about Arirang, Korea’s famous folk song and what stood out the most was that the song was first recorded in the United States in 1896 by seven young Korean students at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Just like that, the animation trailer brings this history to life. It starts in 1896, showing seven young men gathered around a phonograph, listening to Arirang. They travel across the ocean on a big ship and record the song in a new land to share it with others. Then cut to today, where BTS appears on stage. This beautiful link shows how seven Koreans introduced Korean music to the world back then, and now, over 100 years later, seven Koreans in BTS have made Korean culture loved globally, especially in the US.
BigHit Music said they made the video to tell Arirang’s story to everyone, even those who don’t know it. They hope more people will listen to the lyrics and feel the special Korean emotions of longing, strength, and hope in the song.

Furthermore, the deluxe vinyl editions feature small tattoos of the number seven by each member’s name and when all seven vinyl colours come together, they form the mugunghwa, South Korea’s national flower. This flower stands for eternity, resilience, and the strong spirit of the Korean people.
BTS has once again shown their creative genius with this thoughtful comeback. ARMY cannot wait for March 20 to hear the full album and celebrate their return.
