BTS just dropped their highly-anticipated fifth album, Arirang, featuring 14 tracks, and it has already created immense excitement. However, one track stands out and has fans puzzled: the sixth song, titled ‘No. 29’. ARMY everywhere are wondering what it is and why it feels so different from the rest. This short, unusual piece has ignited a massive online discussion. Read on to know all about it!
BTS’s first full group album in a long time, Arirang, was dropped on March 20 and it starts with exciting songs like ‘Body to Body’, ‘Hooligan’, ‘Aliens’, ‘FYA’, and ‘2.0’. Then track six, ‘No. 29’, appears just before the title song, ‘SWIM’ and this feels very different from everything else. ‘No. 29’ is only about one minute and 38 seconds long and there is no singing, no lyrics, and no credit for writing or producing.
So what? Well, all you hear is the slow but deep ringing of a bell and just like every time, fans figured out that the bell is the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok, a real historic item from Korea made in 771 AD. It is kept in a museum and named South Korea’s National Treasure No. 29. The track’s name comes directly from that number and the calm bell sounds like a quiet break after all the upbeat songs at the start. It lets listeners pause, breathe, and get ready for the rest of the album. Well, fans needed it!
However, it took time figuring it out. So, before the discovery, some fans thought their phone had a problem or the song was missing. Others joked it was like a test for their ears or just empty space. A few said it felt relaxing, almost like a short meditation moment. Many loved it because it adds a thoughtful feel and reminds people to slow down.
