What Happened With Boys Planet II Contestants Kim Geon Woo And Kang Woo Jin

Despite Kim Geon Woo winning the highly revered centre position for the programme’s signal song HOLA SOLAR, he received no spotlight in the episode. Kang Woo Jin also saw his ranking drop significantly on the show.

The controversy began when the Boys Planet II contestants were accused of lying about their status as individual trainees. Initially, they both claimed to be unaffiliated with any entertainment agency, but it was later revealed that they were trainees under Wake One Entertainment, the label under which the Boys Planet II group will be formed.

Wake One Entertainment verified on July 22 that Kim Geon Woo and Kang Woo Jin were enrolled in their training program. The firm clarified that Kim Geon Woo continued to appear as an independent trainee instead of with other Wake One trainees because he had initially auditioned without a company before signing with Wake One. They also explained that Kang Woo Jin’s involvement was treated differently because he had been trained as a solo singer-songwriter. For confusing viewers, the business issued an apology.

Kim Geon Woo was already under controversy when an anonymous user accused him of severe bullying. The trainee had released a handwritten apology expressing regret over his behaviour, however, denied many other accusations. On the other hand, Kang Woo Jin was charged with making up a fake background about busking in rural Boryeong to fulfil his ambitions. A former classmate said that instead of growing up in the countryside, he had lived in Goyang-si, which is a part of the Seoul metropolitan area.
