The film industry can be very unpredictable in terms of box office and the things that occur behind the scenes with newcomers or established stars. Bobby Deol recently recalled on Raj Shamani’s podcast that he was originally supposed to star in Jab We Met, but things took a sharp turn, which led Shahid Kapoor to be a part of this movie instead of him. Well, who knew this cult film had Bobby Deol as its first choice for the iconic role of Aditya? Can you imagine? Umm…here’s what Bobby Deol revealed.
Bobby Deol Reflects On Being Replaced In Jab We Met
The Soldier actor revealed to Shamani that he had asked Imtiaz Ali, Jab We Met’s director, to write something for him after seeing a rough cut of Socha Na Tha, as Deol was impressed by his work. At that time, the actor was approached by a producer for a film for which he suggested Ali’s name, but the producer was not on board with that.
Later, Deol became involved in Jab We Met’s (which had a working title Geet) casting, and suggested Kareena Kapoor’s name. She initially refused to be a part of the movie, which led him to ask Priety Zinta for the role. She agreed, but he had to wait around 6 months. Deol recalled on the podcast that after 6 months, the same people who did not want to work with Ali signed him for that project, along with Kareena joining the venture and Shahid Kapoor portraying the role that Deol was supposed to do. The Thank You star expressed that it was his ‘destiny’ that he wasn’t meant to be in that movie, but it left him ‘heartbroken.’
