Fans were delighted to see BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Hank on Vogue’s cover, specifically because of the story behind his adoption. Rosé adopted the dog in late 2020 after rescuing him from a shelter. She even opened an Instagram account for her beloved pet, and he quickly became a fan favourite.

The Backlash
However, despite the positive reaction, some netizens argued that other celebrity dogs were more deserving of the Vogue cover than BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s Hank. While others said that featuring pets in a luxury magazine when many humans live in far less comfortable conditions seems unethical.
I love dogs. I really do.
Just can’t accept how dogs live a more comfortable, possibly luxurious, life than some humans. But sure, dogue. https://t.co/0M8WXsRaXG— Harmond (@harmondmarte) August 19, 2025
A few BTS fans also stepped in to point out that the article seemed to downplay the popularity of BTS Jungkook’s dog, Bam. While Vogue described Hank as one of the most followed celebrity pets, ARMYs highlighted that Bam actually has a larger social media following, which is 7.7 million compared to Hank’s 4.6 million. The people then took to social media to demand that Vogue correct the article and accused the publication of spreading misinformation.
Many people defended BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Vogue’s decision to feature Hank on the cover. Many felt that the reactions were unnecessary and misplaced. Fans viewed this situation as a way that even harmless content can turn into major drama online. The cover was about reflecting the bond between Rosé and Hank, and not some popularity competition.
The media needs to be held accountable for spreading misinformation! @voguemagazine

The Dogue issue ultimately achieved its objectives of sparking interest, creating buzz, and highlighting the stars’ love for her furry friend. Hank’s cover undoubtedly made an impression, whether it was praised or criticized. Along with BLACKPINK’s Rosé, Sabrina Carpenter also featured in the issue with her two adorable dogs.
