Users, however, attacked BLACKPINK’s Rosé for “lying” and “disrespecting” BTS by insisting that her comments belittled the long history the group has had with the GRAMMYs. BTS has, over the years, earned multiple GRAMMY nominations and is credited with opening global doors for K-pop.
However, many fans and neutral observers were in for immediate defence of Rosé, stating that she had her words taken out of context. The supporters feel she was only expressing her disbelief and gratitude over her personal nomination and wasn’t comparing her to BTS. They pointed out that Rosé has consistently shown admiration and respect for fellow K-pop artists, including BTS, throughout her career.
Another point that stirred discussion was that APT. gained attention simply because of its collaboration with Bruno Mars. Fans defended Rosé by saying that her style of vocals, international appeal, and existing fanbase were widely recognised as major contributors to the track’s success.
