Grammys 2026: How Are BLACKPINK’s Rosé And BTS Related To Ariana Grande’s Win?
A unique link between BLACKPINK's Rose, BTS, and Ariana Grande has emerged during the Grammys 2026!
BLACKPINK LISA ay not have won awards at the Grammys 2026, but her Song of the Year and Record of the Year nominations for ‘APT’ with Bruno Mars have made history. It made her the first active K-pop soloist to be nominated in the Grammy Big Four categories. Comparisons with BTS, the first K-pop act to ever score a nomination at the prestigious music awards, were inevitable. But there’s a unique link between the two and popstar Ariana Grande. Read on to find out what it is!
Grammys 2026: BLACKPINK’s Rosé And BTS’s Ariana Grande Connection
The Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award, announced before the actual ceremony, was won by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked. Apart from Rosé and Bruno Mars, they beat KATSEYE, SZA with Kendrick Lamar, and HUNTR/X (EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami). While many fans lamented the BLACKPINK member’s loss, many pointed out an exceptional parallel with BTS’s 2021 Grammy snub.

As it turns out, BTS lost out on the Pop Duo/Group Performance award for ‘Dynamite’ in 2021. The same year, Ariana Grande’s collaboration with Lady Gaga, ‘Rain on Me,’ won. And yes, that means Grande’s partnerships have stopped K-pop powerhouses from winning the same category twice. Coincidence or not, this surprising occurrence thoroughly entertained fans.
Grammys 2026: How BLACKPINK’s Rosé Made K-pop History After BTS
As mentioned, BTS was the first K-pop act to be up for a Grammy. Now five-time nominees, the ‘Butter’ group was joined by Rosé with three nominations. Through her Billboard-topping ‘APT’, the singer secured her place in pop history.

Her foot-tapping opening performance of the song with Bruno Mars made her the first K-pop artist to open the Grammy Awards. ‘APT’ missed out on becoming the first K-pop song to win a Grammy. But it will be remembered for its addictive hook that transcended the traditional bounds of K-pop and monumental Bruno Mars team-up.
BTS is all set to make a comeback in March. Fans expect more nominations at the Grammys and other major American award shows. Only time will tell if this comes true, but their hopes are high!
