5 BLACKPINK Rosé Heartbreak Anthems That Encourage Us To Embrace Vulnerability And Move On
From Gone to toxic till the end, Rosé knows how to tug at our heartstrings!
BLACKPINK’s Rosé turns 29 today. In honour of her birthday, we take a look at some of the solo numbers that separate her style from the ‘How You Like That’ group. If the K-pop group stands for high-energy performances, the ‘APT’ singer shines by being in touch with her emotions. Check out why Rosé’s music stands out to us and why we think there’s strength in vulnerability as she shares.
1. Gone (2021)
We’re starting strong with ‘Gone’ from Rosé’s first single album ‘R’. Touching on the listlessness and contempt that accompany heartbreak, the song features the pop star’s haunting vocals and unique guitar sounds to create a memorable melody. Also, ‘Gone’ established the idol’s identity outside BLACKPINK.

2. number one girl
If you’ve felt the pinch of playing second fiddle in relationships, ‘number one girl’ is the song for you. Whether it is to a job, to their family, or even to another person, it hurts. Rosé’s heart-wrenching vocals touch a tender spot for all those who never feel good enough.
3. toxic till the end
Hindsight is 20/20, especially when it comes to toxic relationships. In the throes of passion, no one else matters. Even if all your friends tell you off, you won’t care. In ‘toxic till the end’, BLACKPINK’s Rosé highlights a doomed affair that burned out hard and fast. Honestly, we relate.

4. stay a little longer
You know that a relationship has come to its natural end. Still, you can’t help but hold tight and beg them to “stay a little longer.” This stirring number perfectly embodies the push and pull that occurs when you break up with someone. Achingly gorgeous.

5. drinks or coffee
BLACKPINK’s Rosé may have placed ‘drinks or coffee’ in the first half of ‘rosie’. But, to us, it speaks of tentatively falling for a new person. No matter how many times we have our hearts crushed, we still catch feelings and get a crush once things get better. Eventually we do move on and look forward to ‘drinks or coffee’ in a fresh relationship. Isn’t life all about the trying again and again?
These BLACKPINK Rosé solo tracks teach us life lessons to tide us over on tough days and heartbreaks. Which one is your favourite?
