Born Again Nominated For VMA, But K-pop Tag Ignites Debate

The collaboration between Lisa, Raye, and Doja Cat was a big deal and fans couldn’t wait for Born Again to drop, and when it did, it delivered. The trio’s voices blended nicely and provided fans with a powerful track and a beautiful music video. It gained millions of streams on day one and became a favourite among listeners. And now, the song has earned a VMA nomination, but the choice of category left some fans scratching their heads.

Many fans stated that Born Again doesn’t scream K-pop, as it is sung entirely in English and features artists from Thailand, the UK, and the US. Hence, the song feels more like global pop than anything else. The fans felt that it deserved a spot in categories like Best Pop or Best Collaboration, as it was more suitable and made sense.

One person posted about how “caging” Lisa into the K-pop category seemed unfair. Another called the decision foolish. On the flip side, some fans were thrilled just to see Lisa recognised and ‘Born Again’ being nominated.
