BLACKPINK Lisa Rumoured To Play Rapunzel In Tangled Remake
BLACKPINK Lisa made her acting debut last year with HBO’s mega-successful series, The White Lotus season 3. Lisa was praised for her natural acting and screen presence in the show, and now it looks like she’s ready to star in her next big project. According to industry insiders, the BLACKPINK member is currently being considered for the role of Rapunzel, the beloved princess who is the main lead for Disney’s animated film Tangled.
The live-action adaptation was previously confirmed last year and later put on hold. However, the success of Disney’s new live-action film Lilo & Stitch has made the film studio resume Tangled’s production. Reports also suggest that makers are looking to cast BLACKPINK Lisa because of her widespread fame and impact. The singer is undoubtedly one of the most influential celebrities in Asia, with a wide fan following; hence, having her on board will greatly leverage the film.
If confirmed, starring in the Tangled remake will be the start of another huge chapter in the Thai singer’s life. Other actresses aside from BLACKPINK Lisa are also currently being considered for the role, like Sarah Catherine Hook, Aimee Lou Wood, Charlotte Le Bon AND Sydney Sweeney.
The production studio has not commented on this news yet; however, reports also claimed that Scarlett Johansson was recently cast for the role of Mother Gothel, Tangled’s antagonist, who locks Rapunzel in a tower.
