BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is all set to make her debut on the big screen with Omniscient Reader: The Prophet, and fans can’t keep calm. However, amid all the excitement, not everyone is happy with the casting choice. Some internet users have raised questions on the decision because of the BLACKPINK member’s limited acting experience. As per Kbizoom, director Kim Byung Woo recently shared his thoughts during a press interview. He mentioned that the character Jisoo plays appears later in the movie, so they needed someone who could instantly grab the audience’s attention. Hence, the BLACKPINK member’s stardom and charm made her the perfect fit.
While he understood the concerns about her lack of acting experience, the director felt confident that it was a good decision and would bring something special to the film.
Earlier, the movie faced backlash over the use of weapons in the film. In response, the director stated that they worked hard to stay true to the source material but made some changes. The director further also admitted that a few details might not have met everyone’s expectations.
Meanwhile, Jisoo is currently touring with her fellow members of BLACKPINK. The iconic girl group members set the stage on fire in LA with their solo songs and group songs. For the unversed, Omniscient Reader: The Prophet will be released in South Korean theatres on July 23.
