BLACKPINK Jennie’s Producer Under Fire For Shading And Insulting TWICE
TWICE fans are not happy with the producer's comments.
Fanwars have been the norm in K-pop fan culture. The most minuscule things are turned into major issues that lead to tensions between two fandoms. BLINKs and ONCEs are no strangers to this. Though both BLACKPINK and TWICE have publicly disclosed their friendship multiple times, their fans are at war with each other almost every day over something or other. However, this time things got worse as a producer who had previously worked with Jennie for her song ‘LIKE JENNIE’ got involved.
The controversy started when BLACKPINK Jennie’s fans discussed what they thought were similarities between Jennie’s song and music video to TWICE’s upcoming comeback. Fans felt TWICE’s styling and song sampling were similar to Jennie’s. However, things escalated when Jaxxtone, a producer credited on ‘LIKE JENNIE’, responded to a tweet saying that the song is sampled. In his reply, the producer wrote, “I made Like Jennie who the f*ck is twice lol.” The tweet has since been deleted.

Jaxxtone immediately started facing a lot of backlash for his tweet. Netizens slammed the producer for his dismissive and arrogant tone and accused him of instigating the fan war further. People also emphasised how he could have cleared up the misunderstanding about the sample without insulting TWICE.
The producer has now set his X account to private. Screenshots of his post are, however, being circulated online everywhere and TWICE fans are asking him to issue an apology and take accountability. Neither BLACKPINK Jennie and TWICE nor their agencies have commented or released a statement on this issue.
