BLACKPINK Jennie has recently been a target of a lot of hate. For her dancing style in interviews, the K-pop idol has constantly been dealing with negative comments for a while now. A now-deleted video shared by Billboard has, however, caused major outrage among BLACKPINK as it featured unfavourable commentary made about Jennie’s performance style. Read on to find out more.

The video posted by Billboard was about people giving their opinions on viral moments of popular female artists. The video included a clip of BLACKPINK Jennie dancing on stage, which people often use to call her ‘lazy.’ In the particular segment, a person being interviewed commented on Jennie’s stage presence. She specifically said, “She [Jennie] was always like that for years, maybe just her face, her emotions, her attitude.” This prompted a wave of anger from BLACKPINK fans online, specifically on X.

BLINKs started calling out Billboard for allowing such content to be put on their platform that perpetuates the already existing negative stereotypes about Jennie. Many also pointed out the publication’s controversy by calling out how they have often collaborated with the singer. Just this year, BLACKPINK’s Jennie was honoured with the Global Force Award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards. Billboard has also featured her in interviews and shoots.

After the backlash, the video was quickly deleted by the outlet; however, fans were not satisfied. BLINKs took to social media and demanded a formal apology or statement addressing the issue. The situation further escalated when fans identified the host of the segment and left negative comments on her socials. In response, the host defended herself by saying that she was not aware of who BLACKPINK was and was only hired to conduct interviews for the day.

The situation further escalated when fans identified the host of the segment. Her personal social media accounts were quickly flooded with criticism. In response, she shared that she was hired for just that day to conduct the interviews.
