Interviewer Says She Received Death Threats For Now-Deleted Billboard Video Disrespecting BLACKPINK Jennie
The influencer clarified she did not know the singer.

A few days ago, media outlet Billboard came under fire for releasing a video which contained a particular interview clip which insulted BLACKPINK’s Jennie. Fans were quick to come to the K-pop idol’s defence and demanded that Billboard delete the video and apologise to Jennie. The host featured in the video has also received a lot of hate for enabling the criticism towards Jennie. The interviewer claims she has even received death threats from the BLACKPINK singer’s fans. Billboard’s Offensive Video Featuring BLACKPINK Jennie
The Billboard video posted on various social media platforms featured influencer Leah La Rosa. In the video, three women are seen discussing popular female pop stars and their viral moments. One of the women was shown criticising BLACKPINK’s Jennie for her “lazy” dancing style. Though Jennie has often gone viral for her stage presence, the particular edit mentioned was calling out the singer for her lack of energy on stage.

When the clip went viral on X (formerly Twitter), BLACKPINK fans demanded that Billboard apologise by trending tags like #BillboardRespectJENNIE. Later, the video was taken down; however, people were not satisfied and even dug up the interviewer, Leah La Rosa’s, personal social media accounts to send hate.
The Interviewer’s Response
Fans accused Leah La Rosa of disrespecting Jennie and not doing basic research before conducting the interview. Criticism towards Leah quickly shifted from professional to personal. The influencer said BLACKPINK Jennie’s fans started sending her death threats. She briefly went private on Instagram.

In response, Leah then put out an Instagram post tagging Jennie and pleading for understanding. The post read, “@JENNIE can you pick me up? I’m scared.” She claimed she was hired only as on-camera talent for the day, had no say in editing, and didn’t even know the clip had been uploaded until she woke up to thousands of hate messages.

Despite the clarification, many remained unconvinced and think Leah La Rosa should have done better, especially when working for a big company like Billboard. While others accept the influencer’s apology and think the situation was not that big of an issue.
