BigHit Music Issues Legal Notice Against Defamation, Stalking And AI Misinformation Targeting BTS
The group is set to make a comeback in March 2026.
Popular K-pop group BTS’s agency BigHit Music recently announced that they will be taking strict legal action against individuals spreading malicious comments that damage the reputation of the group and its members. They underlined a zero-tolerance approach to online abuse, misinformation, and stalking. The announcement comes at a time when the group has returned to the spotlight, as they are set to make a comeback next year in March
BigHit Music Issues Strict Legal Notice Against Individuals Targeting BTS
On December 29, HYBE’s subsidiary label, BigHit Music, released an elaborate notice addressing the legal action they have taken against individuals who have defamed and made posts insulting the group, who have been identified by fans and the company’s monitoring systems. They stated that the posts were tracked across Korean online communities such as Naver, Daum, Instiz, as well as International social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), YouTube and Instagram. South Korean music platforms like Melon, Genie and Bugs were also mentioned in the statement.

The company stated that it maintains a policy of “taking legal action without compromise or leniency” against malicious acts such as defamation, stalking and propagation of misinformation using artificial intelligence tools. It also revealed that a fine has been imposed on individuals who have posted insulting content about BTS and are currently working to ensure criminal punishment in cases that are under investigation.

The legal notice comes at a time when BTS have been under a lot of scrutiny as the group recently reunited after completing their military service earlier this year and is set to release new music soon. The group’s youngest, Jungkook, has been the target of many sasaeng fans who have attempted to break into his home. Jungkook was also embroiled in dating rumours with Aespa Winter, which brought a lot of hate to both idols.
